This year Love to Ride are teaming up with Cycling UK to deliver Bike Week 2019, a celebration of cycling that aims to get hundreds of thousands of people back in the saddle and enjoying the benefits of riding for fun, fitness and transportation.
Everyone who rides a bike for ten minutes in June, anytime, anywhere and records it on the Love to Ride website will go into the draw for a £750 local bike shop voucher or a European City Break. There will also be daily giveaways during Bike Week, which runs from 8-16 June.
To celebrate the many benefits of the bicycle, Love to Ride and Cycling UK are inviting people to share their cycling experiences with the #DaysofCycling hashtag and using the new storied feature on the Love to Ride website. The seven themes are: enjoying the social side of cycling; riding to school and engaging children in cycling; the mental health benefits of cycling; businesses boosting their bike friendliness; favourite three miles-the best short routes for bikes; getting fit and healthy through cycling; and, finally cycling for transport. There will be prizes linked to each of these themes announced on the Love to Ride website and social media soon.
Its completely free for people over the age of sixteen to register on the site and take part and everyone is invited to join in, it doesn’t matter if you ride everyday or if you haven’t been on a bike in years (or ever) there will be Learn to Ride sessions in lots of places.
Bike Week is just the start of the summer of cycling. Cycle to work day takes place on Thursday 8 August and is the perfect warm-up for Love to Ride’s main event, Cycle September.
